Search Kitchin Collection

The Kitchin Collection is a nostalgic collection of some 2000 black & white photographs, mostly taken in and around Peterborough during the 1960s by a lifelong resident of the city named Ramon Kitchin (1929-99). Mr Kitchin wanted to create a photographic record of the city and its surrounding villages before re-development changed them forever.

The oldest photographs in the collection were actually taken during the Queen’s Coronation celebrations in June 1953, but most of the city centre and suburban photographs can be roughly dated to the years 1960-63. He recorded further changes between 1966 and 1970.

You can now search and view over 700 of these photographs online.
